Stages in residential sewer connection:

• Receipt of Notice to Proceed from Wastewater District (or installation of District connection box at property line).
• Monroe County Health Department permit acquisition for the removal, abandonment or conversion of existing onsite sewage treatment system.
• Monroe County Building Department permit acquisition for the installation of sewer lateral from building to District supplied connection box.
• Installation of lateral piping originating at or near the building discharge and terminating at or near District connection box.
• Inspection of lateral pipe by Monroe County plumbing inspector.
• Visual inspection of lateral pipe by Wastewater District.
• "Dry" connection of lateral pipe to District connection box.
• Receipt of "30 Day Letter" from Wastewater District setting connection timeline and instructing that treatment system is operable and ready to accept wastewater.
• Connection of installed lateral to building discharge.
• Final inspection by Monroe County Building Department of building tie-in.
• Final inspection by Wastewater District of on-line connection.
• Removal, abandonment or conversion of existing onsite sewage treatment system.
• Final inspection by Monroe County Health Department.
